The Cañon City School District (RE-1) is served by 2 high schools, 1 middle school and 5 elementary schools with a teacher to student ratio of 1 to 23. Our district is expanding one of the high schools and renovating several of the elementary buildings with the passage of a recent bond issue. Special Program schools serve pre-school and elementary aged youth. Pueblo Community College's Fremont Campus is housed in a new facility with state-of-the-art technology, small classes, and strong academic programs.

MVCKS is a public, tuition-free charter school, which opened in the Fall of 1996.
